The 2005 programme was uploaded today. Due to the loss of around seven - yes 7 - of last years leaders the programme for the forthcoming year is a touch spartan. Many, many thanks however go to those members who have volunteered to lead next year.

06th September 2004
Well it will soon be the 19th of September and as most of us will be aware that means Access Day in the North West. Definitive maps are being produced by the O/S and it is hoped that they will be available by that date.
Hyndburn Group have a walk led by David Hill on that day which is a fourteen mile walk from Stainforth. If you can't handle that sort of distance there are a couple of alternatives. The first is called The Huncoat Trail and has been devised by local man Roy Chetham. It can be tackled as either two five mile walks or a complete circuit of ten miles. You can find more details on Roy's website www.roychetham.co.uk Also on the day Hyndburn Womens Forum are holding an event which commences from Hyndburn Sports Centre and consists of walks specifically for all the family. Check Local Press for more details about this.

Released today was the all new Countryside Code. Our own Country Code page has been updated. The page links will be altered shortly.

Apologies to those of you who turned up on yesterday's walk for Yorda's Cave from Ingleton. Unfortunately Phil Bedson was full of the flu (again!!!) and could not attend with young Dean. He hopes none of you were too inconvenienced and the walk will go on next years programme.

29 June 2004
On Saturday June 26th members of Hyndburn Group along with other Groups in the North East Area and Mid Lancs Area were present at a rally for a 3-way bridge to be built at the confluence of the Calder and the Ribble rivers at the point of the former Hacking Ferry. Initial plans were proposed a number of years ago but due to things like the Foot and Mouth epidemic things were set back.
Reports were published in a number of papers including the Lancashire Evening Telegraph and the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times.
A more in depth report can be found here

23 April 2004
The Joint walk with Preston RA on Sunday the 18th of April was also a great success. With nine members of Hyndburn Group attending, on what started out as a frightfully wet day, we had a wonderful day out. Andy Manzie led a 12 mile walk around the four rivers of the Wenning, the Lune, the Hindburn and the Greta.
We look forward to the next joint meet to be hosted by ourselves at Hyndburn.

01 April 2004
After the Leader Training Day event on Saturday the 27th of March, Phil Bedson received the following letter from one of those who took part....

Dear Phil

Thank you so much for organising the recent leaders day event 27th March 2004 for the Hyndburn Ramblers. It was both informative and fun and I for one really enjoyed the day and feel I benefited greatly from it. I can now get lost and know where I am!

Although the response in general was poor, with only three members taking part, on hearing what a good day they missed some members now seem to regret not having made the effort to take part. It therefore may be worth running the day again either later this year or next year if you have the time and inclination.

Thanks again

Pauline Hughes
