THE FIRST GROUP MINUTES



Minutes of meeting held at Hyndburn Hotel 1st September 1977


The following were present:- Mr Houldsworth, Mrs Slater, Mr & Mrs Walton, Mr Moughton, Mrs Beswick, Mr Crabtree, Mrs Craig, Mrs Allen, Mr Redding, Mr Lees, Mr Duckworth, Mr Brickell and Mrs Franks.

It was decided that the group should be called the Hyndburn Group.

The following officers were elected until the first AGM

  • Chairman - Mr Brickell
  • Vice-Chairman - Mr Houldsworth
  • Secretary - Mr Lees
  • Treasurer - Mr Moughton
  • Footpath Secretary (Oswaldtwistle) - Mr Redding
  • Footpath Secretary (Accrington) - Mrs Slater
  • Footpath Secretary (Northern ) - Mr Walton
  • Area executive committee representatives
    1. Mr Houldsworth
    2. Mr Lees
      Vice Mr Walton
Mr Houldsworth was to liaise with Mr McGregor to arrange a meeting to discuss footpath problems.

Church No.18 footpath diversion was agreed.

Footpath signposting. LCC to be asked how many footpaths were to be signposted and Mr Redding was to prepare a priority list.

Programme. It was decided to organise two public rambles which were to be advertised in the Accrington Observer. the first from the Hyndburn Bridge Hotel at 7pm on Thursday 8th September, and the second from the Black Dog, Oswaldtwistle at 11am on Sunday 11th September.

It was agreed that members should come to the next meeting with suggestions for the programme.

Next meeting to be held at the Imperial Hotel Accrington on September 26th.
